New Business Development Manager for BHP Law

 

Consett-born and a former pupil of Durham High School for Girls, Claire Hewitt has worked in legal marketing for the past ten years, previously spending time with a large commercial practice in Newcastle.

 

“I was attracted to BHP Law because it stands apart with its breadth of practice areas, sectors, loyal client base and innovative approach to servicing clients’ needs.

 

“The firm recently created a new joint venture company, BHP Financial Management Ltd. It has an estate agency, BHP Home and offers sports representation and management through BHP Sport. It’s this variety that really appeals to me.”

 

Claire, who now lives in Durham, studied a degree in human communications at Sheffield University.

 

Part of her course covered speech therapy and she worked for some time with autistic children. She met her husband at university and moved to Liverpool where she first became involved with legal marketing.

 

“Marketing appealed because it is so varied,” she said. “Now I enjoy working at a strategic level.

 

“Times have been challenging for all law firms in the last few years and BHP are responding by offering more non legal services, concentrating on delivering sensible pricing and a personal service for every client whether a large corporate or a private individual.

 

“It’s an exciting time to be involved with a practice like BHP and I’m looking forward to working with the management team to develop the business going forward.”
