A major law firm has become the first partner in the opening level of a new scheme to encourage businesses to support an iconic North East Museum.
BHP Law has signed up to the Bowes Museum’s new Racing Club, a corporate partner programme that puts investment directly into the charity.
The Racing Club draws on the museum’s founder, John Bowes’s, love of horse racing and success as an owner and breeder.
The scheme has four sponsorship categories all named after famous horse races.
BHP Law is the inaugural partner in the 2000 Guineas level, which entitles it to various privileges alongside supporting the museum at Barnard Castle.
John Pratt, managing partner of BHP Law, said: "We are delighted to be supporting The Bowes Museum's corporate partner scheme. BHP Law is a keen supporter of charities, the arts and sport across the region and The Racing Club brings together in one innovative programme all those things we consider to be important in maintaining a vibrant region.
"We should all feel proud to have an outstanding museum in such a unique setting on our doorstep and I hope our involvement encourages other local businesses to join in and support this very worthy charity."
The museum costs around £2m a year to run and it is hoped the new partners’ scheme will contribute up to £50,000.
Corporate partners receive a range of benefits including free museum passes, prove viewings and complimentary daytime hire of museum space.
