Margot Moffitt

Margot Moffitt qualified as a Solicitor in 1978 after training with Kirklees Metropolitan District Council in West Yorkshire. She returned to the North East in 1980 to join Harvey & Marron Solicitors in Newcastle. She was a Partner for 25 years prior to the merger with Blackett Hart & Pratt in April 2006.

Margot has considerable experience of Family Law. She is an Accredited Specialist Family Lawyer with Resolution (formerly Solicitors Family Law Association). She is also a Member of the Law Society’s Family Law Accreditation Scheme and has been a Member of the Law Society’s Children Panel for 24 years. She has considerable experience of all aspects of Public Children Law including National and International Adoptions.

Margot has been involved in Family Mediation processes for over thirty years. She was accredited in 2000 in “All Issues” of Family Law and she is qualified to undertake publicly funded work. She is involved nationally in the training of Family Mediators and is also qualified as a Family Mediation Practice Consultant/Supervisor for Family Mediators.

Many couples now choose to resolve their disputes through a Family Mediation process whilst retaining their own legal advice. The process can assist families to address issues of lack of trust and poor or non-existent communication in a safe and confidential setting. Margot enables families to find mutually acceptable solutions to difficult and intractable family disputes.
