Andrea Hewitson

Andrea Hewitson is a Partner in the Family Law Team at BHP. Andrea qualified in 1988 after completing her Training at Harvey & Marron Solicitors. Andrea remained at that Firm until it merged with BHP Law in April 2006.

Andrea since then has been a member of the Family Team based at the Quayside Office in Newcastle and has been a Partner since 2010.

Andrea has considerable experience in all areas of Matrimonial and Family Law. She specialises in Divorce, Financial Relief, Children Issues, including Residence / Contact, Care Proceedings, Domestic Violence and Cohabitation. Andrea deals with both private and Public Funding matters.

Andrea has practised Family Law since qualifying, is an Accredited Specialist with Resolution (formerly the Solicitors Family Law Association), is a member of the Law Society’s Family Panel and a Trained Collaborative Lawyer. Being a Trained Collaborative Lawyer means that Andrea can assist parties in dealing with a relationship breakdown through a face to face meeting with their own and their ex-partner’s Lawyers.

As a member of Resolution, an organisation of 5,000 Lawyers and Family Justice Professionals, she believes in a non-confrontational approach, if at all possible, to Family Law matters.

Andrea helps clients with Pre-marital Agreements, Pre-civil Partnerships, Agreements, Cohabitation Contracts, together with all aspects of a separation.
