In times of economic uncertainty, the requirement for effective restrictive covenants in employment contracts for when employees have ceased active service with their employer is particularly strong.
While employees must observe certain restrictive covenants that are implied by the general law into their contract of employment, such protection is usually limited after termination of the contract.
