New Partner for BHP Law

Corporate recovery and insolvency specialist Paul Monaghan, 31, has been recognised for his expertise and commitment as part of the firm’s drive to nurture and reward young talent.

 

Last year he was one of five solicitors to be appointed to the new senior position of Associate, which recognises the knowledge, experience and loyalty of qualified lawyers within the firm.

 

Paul, who comes from Whickham, has built a strong reputation acting on behalf of individuals, companies, banks and other financial institutions and creditors with a stake in businesses in liquidation.

 

He said: “I am really delighted to have made partner this early in my career. It has been a hectic four years, especially with the growth in my specialism due to the recession.

 

“BHP Law is always looking to the future through experienced partners helping and sharing their expertise with new recruits and by rewarding hard work and dedication.

 

“As a partner, I am looking forward to playing an even bigger role in the firm’s continued success and development.”

 

Paul is a graduate of several leading universities including York, Edinburgh and Northumbria, and the College of Law of England and Wales.

 

After completing the legal practice course, he worked for a firm on Teesside then joined a London firm, specialising in corporate law and commercial litigation.

 

He joined BHP Law, or Blackett Hart & Pratt as it was known, in 2007 in the corporate recovery department to increase the service offered in personal bankruptcies, company insolvencies and to businesses that need help on financial matters.

 

Paul is one of a limited number of solicitors who hold higher rights of audience, which means that he is able to conduct trials in the lower and higher courts.

 

He is also a registered Football Association lawyer and acts as an agent on behalf of a number of top tier football players.

 

BHP has offices across the region in Newcastle, Durham, Darlington, Teesside and in Halifax and provides a comprehensive range of legal services to both private clients and businesses.
