Prior to becoming a Solicitor David was a Police Officer for ten years involved in various aspects of policing. Some of David’s career in the police was spent in outlying rural areas where he was mainly concerned in firearm licensing legislation and also animal movement. Following retiring from the Police Force David joined the North Yorkshire Trading Standards where he was heavily involved in the advice of both consumer and business legislation heading up the Consumer Advice Team out of Northallerton.

After being involved in the Consumer Advice Team, David then moved to being a Senior Enforcement Officer with the Special Investigations Team. The team although involved in the policing of copyrights and trademarks offences were heavily involved in the foot and mouth epidemic which affected the farming communities in 2000. David’s team were responsible for policing the exclusion zone and also with animal movements and animal health legislation on the farms. David then moved into the legal profession. In his first legal position David was heavily involved in potential litigation brought by the agricultural community into the effects of the foot and mouth pyres.

At BHP David is responsible for litigating and negotiating both commercial and personal matters. David has experience in dealing with matters involving the local agricultural community which have been assisted under the LAS Scheme and is well versed with its procedures and aims.
