New Partner joins Business & Company Law team at BHP

Regional law firm BHP Law has announced a new commercial appointment that confirms its position as a leading multi-disciplinary practice .

David Lucas has joined BHP Law (the new name for Blackett Hart & Pratt LLP) as a Partner in the business and company law team, bringing with him a wealth of invaluable experience gained in the industrial heart of Teesside.

The 45-year-old spent 14 years working in industry, mainly with renowned chemical giant ICI in a variety of sales, marketing and business management positions.

After deciding to move into the legal profession, he began training at York College of Law in 1999 then joined Jacksons in Stockton on Tees, where he became a partner in 2004.

Currently based at BHP Law in Darlington, David said: “My specialist work will involve everything from the setting up to the selling of companies, to dealing with every form of day-to-day commercial contracts that businesses have.

“I have also developed a specialism in franchising, which is particularly popular in this region. I’m extremely impressed with the way BHP has been building its business, and working with its clients, so I was delighted to have the chance to join.”
