BHP Main Sponsors of Constructing Excellence Awards 2008

1st May 2008

The cream of the North-East construction world is set to be honoured as expectation builds ahead of one of the biggest dates in the industry’s calendar.

Hundreds of people will converge on the Newcastle Marriott Gosforth Park Hotel next month for the fourth annual Constructing Excellence Awards night – and the prestigious event now boasts a new main sponsor.

Regional law firm BHP Law, formerly Blackett Hart & Pratt Solicitors, is backing the initiative which brings contractors, project managers, consultants, surveyors, architects and a host of other construction professionals together to recognise outstanding work.

The North-East awards event on Friday, May 9, is one of eight regional ceremonies taking place this year, with all of the winners going forward to a grand national final in October.

Accolades will be handed out in the categories of Integration and Collaborative Working; Leadership and People Development; The Legacy Award – Sustainability; Innovation; Health and Safety; Value; the SME Award for small companies; Achiever’s Award; Client of the Year; and Project of the Year.

There will also be a North-East Building Services Best Practice Award handed out by the regional committee of the Chartered Institution of Building Services Engineers.

Andrea Gardner who specialises in construction and engineering, said: “We’re thrilled to be the main sponsor of this event for the first time.

“Everybody who has been involved in some of the most exciting and impressive projects seen in recent times will be there so BHP Law is delighted to be involved in helping to showcase that talent.

“Constructing Excellence is a great organisation that carries out so much positive work in the industry and we know that the entries for this year’s awards ceremony will be of the very highest calibre.”
